Labour For Irish Unity Zoom Webinar

Why is the Irish language important? Cénfáth a bhfuiltábhacht leis an nGaeilge?

A webinar exploring the history of the Irish language in Ireland and within the wider Irish diaspora. We will hear about the revival of Irish in the context of decolonisation and the mass campaign for Irish Language rights that brought thousands of people onto the streets of Belfast in support of the Irish language Act in May this year.

We will consider why it has taken so long for the Irish Language Act to be enacted when Welsh and Scots Gaelic have had official status for years. Finally, the importance of the Irish language to Irish people living in this country will be highlighted, with a focus on Liverpool. This is a webinar not to be missed.
