The Nadia Whittome MP Interview

Veteran Labour lefties will recognise Nottingham East as the seat where back in 1987 Labour Leader Neil Kinnock prevented Sharon Atkin, who was instrumental in establishing Labour Party Black Sections, from becoming the Labour candidate.  When you listen to the podcast you’ll be left in no doubt that Nottingham East Labour members got their socialist representative in the end!

Nadia entered Parliament in 2019 and she’s already making an impact. Pink News made her Politician of the Year and Diva magazine Unsung Hero of the Year.

When Nadia Whittome stood for Labour in 2019 she said: “Rise with your class and community not above them”.  Everything she has done since has demonstrated she really meant it.

Continuing the discussion from the last episode with Sandy Martin, the Chair of the Labour Campaign for Electoral Reform, we consider whether Andy will deliver on his long-term support for proportional representation.

The podcast focuses on the issues that Nadia has made her own, namely climate change, trans rights, in the face of the Supreme Court Ruling, and a consistent socialist internationalism that stretches from Gaza to Ukraine.
